Why let other politicians kill you with the consequences of poverty when I can kill you directly with this cool car

Is it ok to make "buckle up buckaroo" jokes or is that too closely tied to the all the horribly transphobic shit South Park has done, especially wrt to Caitlyn Jenner?

She is such an asshole. Running as a republican even though that whole party wants to criminalize trans people.

Yeah. if anyone was going to be the good kind of class traitor, being part of a marginalized group is a good way to get there though

I don't think her experience is at all relatable to what one would generally think of as being the experience of a member of a marginalized group.

The reality show about her after coming out as trans, which my wife occasionally watched, had at least one or two instances of Jenner learning about anti-trans bias or judgment for seemingly the first time ever and going "oh this is a thing? wow this is bad. huh."

I mean yeah, exactly, she's fucking loaded so she hasn't had to experience half the shit anyone else goes through. it just sucks she hasn't learned more empathy.

Just a quick note but maybe her campaign ad shouldn't have her behind the wheel of a car

I mean, if I was in California I might vote for her bc she's the most likely candidate to legalize drunk driving :agony:

I would say she doesn't have a chance, but I also thought arnold didn't have a chance either and look how that turned out.

And he was just following in the steps of Reagan before him!

Sam Seder commented the other day that despite the obvious affinity that Dems and popular celebs tend to have for one another, when celebrities run for office and win it's usually as a Republican, not a Democrat. Reagan, Sonny Bono, Arnold, Trump.

Newsom has to lose the "Should we recall Newsom" vote first, and that's gonna be a tall order. In 2003, Gray Davis had a ~30% approval rating and most people wanted him out. Newsom's approval is in the 50s IIRC and most polls have him winning the recall vote with a mid-50s margin. Davis also had his lieutenant governor run in the recall election, signaling he was unpopular in his own party. Newsom, on the other hand, has locked down the party establishment and even his critics on the left. Bernie Sanders, for example, wrote an op-ed defending Newsom and calling the recall effort a right-wing hit job.

Never say never obviously - if Newsom loses the "Should we recall Newsom" question then Jenner could definitely win. But Jenner isn't running against Newsom head-to-head. Newsom's running against himself, and Jenner's just waiting in the wings if he fails.

    Who is this?

The ad really does reach out to target wine mom demographic though.
