It bears no resemblance to the original r/cth, our great moderators changed the site's name because the podcast was too liberal.

Don't get me wrong the podcast basically died with the Bernie Train but the mods here killed the community because they wanted to control it, the thing that made r/cth work as a subreddit was its decentralization, how many spin-off subreddits were there?

How many daily struggle sessions were there that made the sub the beloved dumpster fire that it was?

Hexbear is sanitized, it's the only option and I can understand why so few original posters from the sub remain.

Personally I have a vendetta against this place because it killed a leftist movement (r/cth) by banning anyone who disagreed with the changes, the downvote button being removed, the pronoun tags, locking main as a joke, changing the name, letting the admins just create new accounts so they couldn't be held to any accountability, real shady shit everyone is too afraid of complicit in speaking about.

Pig poop ball ( :PIGPOOPBALLS: )s, sicko ( :sicko-pog: )s, polface ( :le-pol-face: ), wojak ( :doomjak: )s, porkys ( :porky-happy: ) , these memes are still from the sub, they're old and stale and no one here has the creativity to make anything new.

Y'all stagnated like a jar of piss in the summer heat

I remember a huge struggle session on this site over veganism. But that felt like the echoes of CTH.

The current site is way more chill and friendly. You can Gandi-post all day under your John Kerry account and the worst you'll get is :jesse-wtf: responses.

We are mostly a bunch of people with a lot of free time to escape online experiencing a lot of alienation, trying not to drive themselves insane like Qanon people. That was the case for r/cth. That's the case here. It's much nicer here. None of this is a movement. It's questionable if a movement is even in the cards right now for the next several decades in the imperial core, and we don't even get the pleasure of shitposting about it in person like Marx.

I barely even remember CTH at this point and honestly I'm not sure I care. Reddit is a hellhole even back then, it was just the clean part of an otherwise deeply stained site.

I mean, it was basically this sub plus a bunch of drama injected by cross-posting trolls and chronically ill-tempered Reddit Admins.

It was nice to get a periodic influx of new blood, because knowing that your opinion resonates is reassuring. But it also came with a lot of spammers and haters, which was more work for the mods, which resulted in a lot of suspicion and fear. The current setup has much better vibes, simply because nobody outside the site throws a shit-fit when CTH hits the front of Reddit's Main.

I was on the original subreddit :I-was-saying:

For real tho, Reddit is such a dumpster fire. Every somewhat left leaning thread is full of right wingers calling leftists trash or neoliberals blaming us for all their problems. Plus the front page is basically no better than Facebook at this point with all the reposts and people oversharing every aspect of their lives to whore meaningless karma points. Fuck that place. I'm tired of people who are ok with 50k people dying every year because they can't afford to see a doctor or people living on the street in the richest country in the history of humanity. But apparently posting a guillotine meme on the internet is just too radical.

Seriously. The pronoun fighting in particular never made any sense; if it makes someone happy, that's good enough. I don't see how it takes away from anything, it's such an odd thing to get bent up about

This is the first place I've encountered pronoun tags and I like it! Too many anonymous social media platforms leave it a mystery and all the users default to assuming that everyone is a "He". That never sat right with me. I grew up with that being the default. You see a bug and your grandma says something like "oh, he's not gonna hurt you"

My mind always went to "how do you know it's a he?"

Glad to see these old systems being gotten rid of.

True from what I remember, sadly; it was just surprising to me how many people were willing to die on that hill on a niche internet board. Shouldn't be considering all the stuff I've seen, but :vivian-shrug:

I know I'm a :LIB: for engaging with dumb copypasta, but I think the change in the kind of posture and attitude from r/cth was because it was a small pocket of leftism in a liberal shithole of a site. You had to be combative, you had to assume half of the post were right wing trolls. It was about bullying everyone else on reddit. Here, it's just us. so instead of trying to tear down the walls (which irony, edginess, and detachment are great at doing), you've actually gotta build something that you want to see. Things may be less crazy here, but that's because we try to assume most people are here as comrades. instead of windmilling with your arms out, you actually need to be careful about who you hit.
