We shouldn't stop at student loan borrowers, though. Why not also people who have medical debt? What about predatory credit cards as well? The more people we include in a debt strike, the more powerful it will become. Also, unlike labor strikes, debt strikes seem relatively easy to do, as they don't result in the immediate loss of income. Quite the opposite, in fact. All you need to do is stop paying your bills. So, you'd think the idea of a national debt strike might be able to gain traction given the right conditions?
The sheer number of people who don’t have the ability to pay in the first place will make it an inevitability.
the praxis to be done about this is find ways to materially support them that their loan companies can't find out about or garnish
For a while, I felt that a medical debt strike, student loan strike, or general strike would just naturally happen. Looks like this might be the case.
all Capital had to do to stop this is throw the public the smallest of bones, Eisenhower style, and they can't even figure that out anymore.
Ironically only the Hard right is able to see the writing on the wall, but their ideology / political programme makes it impossible for them to actually force a company to do anything, and thus we are here.
