China decides to continue doing thing that is demonstrably working
I really can’t put into words how jealous I am of China’s response to covid. I don’t even need communism or socialism, I’m literally begging to just have a functional state apparatus that can do basic state functions like “Stop the spread of disease” and “Build and maintain infrastructure”
Yeah, when I hear people try to discredit China by saying they aren't really communist or socialist or whatever, I just go "Okay, but they're still just (measurably) so much goddamn better than their peers."
Seriously, call it whatever you want I really don’t care, I’ll take whatever it is they’re having. Hell if China is really this authoritarian dictatorship they claim fine, I don’t care, that just makes me want authoritarian dictatorship. I just want to be able to go outside without being scared I’ll catch a virus that could ruin my entire fucking life please ffs.

According to Western articles I’ve read the common “concern” is that frequently quarantining large areas will disrupt (treat) production for the global economy.
Not sure if that concern is in complete bad faith and they just want them to get a taste of the suffering and instability, or if they genuinely think sending workers in to work sick repeatedly is viable and better despite the labor shortages and supply line issues happening in front of their eyes in countries that opened up.

Right after you leave the airport you go to an approved quarantine hotel, and can't leave for however long the period is, and then you can go immediately to your intended place of stay and have to quarantine there for however long the period is. You can't leave the hotel but no one is watching specifically, its up to the front desk staff to keep people in. After that you're free to do whatever but I think you need to install the contact tracing app. I considered going through this but it takes too damn long and I'd spend 80% my vacation days in quarantine instead of visiting family.
This is the main thing I bring up whenever people say shit like "China is obviously lying about their numbers xDDD imagine trusting numbers from CCP xDDD"
Why would they take such drastic measures if they were just gonna lie about the case numbers?
the conspiracy doesn't make any sense. first of all, assuming that all actual chinese are lying (lol), there are a ton of Americans living in China. second, it would greatly mess up supply chains if covid was bad like it was in the US and all the companies in the US that import from China would notice it.
