Could it be that non Western countries might actually have competent healthcare systems that enable them to fight pandemics, and also don't have insane right wing leaders who think corona is a hoax? :curious-marx: https://twitter.com/BBCAfrica/status/1301298213190762503?s=19

I think its many factors, here are two I don't see discussed much.

    1. People are healthier in Africa, because they don't eat processed foods and junk food, etc. They also spend less time on computers and watching TV.

    2. Fewer people are traveling around randomly and going to big events far away. Their civilization is largely simpler than ours, meaning a large percentage of people see the same people day to day, and stay within a smaller radius than we do.

      I'll add a couple more:

      1. Probably much less testing capacity leading to a lower count of confirmed cases

      2. African countries in average have a very young population compared to western countries. It's not just old people dying of covid in the west but it's still where the vast majority of deaths come from.

I think the thing is here that what is effective against covid, masks, which could be made from a ripped t-shirt, and social distancing are free so wealth doesn't need to be a determiner of who gets it. Of course, poor people do tend to live and work in more densely populated areas.

It's because of that extra bone they have in their feet that makes them run faster.
