When Mueller was hot on the trail and the walls were closing in on the dang Cheeto man, libs were making the same jokes about prison rape. The only difference is that journalism is an institution, the institutions are tautologically good, and anybody who wants to see them destroyed is doing the work of our enemies.
The worst part of this to me is the acknowledgment that we all know prisons are hellish nightmare dungeons. We all know they are devoid of humanity. We know the inhumane conditions and inhuman acts of brutality that happen there. We understand. We fully know. Somehow this they think it’s “funny”. When I say “wooting CHUDS” this the exact type of mindset I am referring to. This is the sort of cancer of the American soul that needs to be excised.
They don't care about what happens
If a conservative walks up and assaults someone, they might go to jail. If they commit sexual assault, they might go to jail. Murder, they might go to jail.
Conservatives want to be Jeffrey Dahmer, without the consequences. Voting for a government that produces torture and rape gives them some of the satisfaction.
That's literally what it's about. The government is a safe outlet for violence upon others. They've always wanted to kill women who get abortions, and now they get to be a part of it.
At “best” they just end up in jail soon after release, but at worst they become even bigger monsters than before. But to the reactionary brain, temporary punishment is epic and worth the potential physical harm it’ll cause further down the line. Capitalists have 0 long term thinking capabilities.

The purpose of a system is doing what it does.
If reactionaries cared about reducing crime and the negative social impact of crime they would advocate for doing what has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt to do that: Ending poverty, providing quality healthcare, including mental health, making sure that a peaceful and dignified existence is available to all.
But they don't do that, they scoff at the thought of doing something to improve the lives of poor and racialised people. Quite to the contrary they enthusiastically support policies that creates poverty, desperation and by extension criminality.
Reactionaries doesn't want to reduce crime. All their actions are inconsistent with a desire to alleviate crime.
And why would they want to reduce crime in the first place? Most crime, especially violent crime, happens to the poor and racialised people that reactionaries considers to be less than dirt.
So, of reactionaries doesn't want to reduce crime, what do they want to do? Again, let us look at their actions. There was never a police budget increase, an increase in sentencing, a hardening of prison conditions that reactionaries didn't like. They cheer and class their little hands every time the police state fair more power, every time someone they consider their inferior gets crushed by the jackboots of the carceral state. Stories of abuse, violence and cruelty committed by the bourgeois state doesn't move them or soften their hearts, it might even give them a high of schadenfreude and an occasion to gloat and feel superior.
In my view, everything reactionaries do and say tells me that the thing they really want to do about crime is to punish it. The punishment in itself is a social good to the traditional mind. Punishing criminals reinforces and propagandise for the social hierarchies that reactionaries hold so dear, it keeps the out-group down and allows the in-group to feel superior to the criminals.
This is why the liberal approach to talking about political responses to crime with reactionaries is completely inefficient. "Did you know, that if you run the numbers it turns out that..." Yes! Reactionaries do know that. They're not idiots. They do know that the police state creates nothing but misery and does little to reduce crime. They know that and they like it.
I think the correct way to address bozos who claims to believe that throwing more people in more atrocious jails for longer time is going to do anything good is not to start arguing over statistics and minutia. Instead call them out, make them explain why they want more cringe and suffering.

yankees view prison like, basically secular hell where "bad people" automatically and unavoidably are to be punished exactly in the way they deserve by other inmates. the concept of solidarity and humanity existing behind the walls is utterly foreign. it is a full belief in most americans that everyone sent to prison gets karmatically served what they did to others, every time a rapist or molester goes to jail :frothingfash: "oh he gonna get it done to him!"

The DNC loves this shit, they want political violence to start because they see unrest among their own voter base, are in favour of a draconian police state, and can't win anything to stay in power without fear of violence and oppression.
He kind of comes in waves. You can find him saying stuff that’s pseudo-populist. You can find him bragging about being a ghoul. You can find him acting like he gives a shit about people. You can find him talking about stuff like this where he’s just blatantly advocating violence as a form of systematized extrajudicial punitive justice. This feels like a ramp up to the elections for me.
