Doesn't announcing to your opponent that you're going to launch a counteroffensive kind of spoil it? Is all this coutneroffensive stuff just vaporware?

That's what's been bothering me since the beginning of the war.

I can't think of any other wars where the leaders just openly announced their plans like this.

I doubt the Vietnamese guerrillas would send a letter to the Americans like "hi guys, me and my comrades are going to ambush you from these trees over there at 04:00 tonight."

The ukraine crisis is incredibly weird.

I think we’re simply at the point where modern warfare on this scale is literally just hardly viable anymore. With intelligence services running around with advanced technology it’s gotten impossible to maintain subterfuge

I think the strategy is to announce a bunch of bullshit and only end up doing only some of it. Lots of decisions being made in the very moment to keep your opponent guessing which of your announced plans you’re actually going to follow through with

Can't waste time. Gotta use up all that war money before Biden bangs his head on the debt ceiling.

I wanna see Shaq and Barkley shooting AKs in the studio in between his commentary and predictions about Ukrainian soldiers

Article II of the 2025 Sevastopol Conventions stated that all combatants in wars will have livestreaming cameras in their helmets to enable live televised commentary. US ambassador to the United Nations Steven Crowder described the measure as "pretty neat, dude."

This isn't really new. The ongoing consequences of human suffering as widely broadcast spectator entertainment have not yet been fully fathomed. :doomer:
