For context:

This is a MoG post about a hexbear comment from 7 months ago complaining about the evocation of Charlie Hebdo against the french

Show

A top comment asks "why so mad against french?", and the OP (the main mod and poster of MoG) suggests it's because we "hate france's freedom of speech and their 'anti-islam stance'". Declines to share a link or context to the comment

Out of curiosity I went looking for the context to that comment, and discovered that it was in reaction to a wildly Islamophobic cartoon making a joke about Gazan's starving during the month of ramadan [linky] [CW: Racism, Islamophobia, genocide]:

The mod then goes to great length to avoid commenting on the racist context of the post, as well as any definitive statement acknowledging the Palestinian Genocide or the culpability of Israel and the IOF. Tries to whatabout China, Russia, and Iran

Turns out libs actually do practice critical support, but instead of critically supporting AES projects they support any state crusading against muslims.

I feel less bad about the sweeping generalizations I made about the french in my rant in the mod matrix channel the other day now.

I had a struggle session with my partner about why I seem to have such a bias against the French as that sort of bias is out of character for me and I couldn't figure it out.

Eventually I realized it's the colonialism and hateful xenophobia against Muslims / anyone less than lily white. When I explained that was why, they apologized and became a hater with mW.
