This is why i refuse to participate in any of the recent drama surrounding bans. I hate to fedjacket, but the kind of antagonistic language I'm seeing people use in c/userunion is eerily reminiscent of COINTELPRO division tactics (which we now have proof are being used to some extent). I get that the mods can be unfair sometimes, and that the past few days have had a larger amount of bans than usual, but please, unless you have something valuable to say, remember this screenshot and shut the fuck up.

Mods accidentally banned be the first day I made my account cuz they confused my ironyposting with chudposting. I was just like "lol k" cuz it's just a dumb internet forum. Apparently this is something other people get mad over? Christ.

Some people got really mad about the first ban wave because they were labelled "transphobe" in the mod log and it was really nasty. Someone I knew here was unbanned but sent me a message they're leaving because they were really embittered by this.

Honestly this last month the forum hasn't been pleasant at all and I left for a long time because I was through with all the drama. I'm pretty bummed to find out that the drama is still going on.

I feel the slogan 'all mods are bastards' contributes to this crap, its bad on both ends.

On one end, it plays down the discusting behavior of cops, making ACAB into 'all [thing im pissed about in the moment] are bastards', when it should be a slogan of burning hatered of the violence of capital and state.

On the other end, it compares the organizers of leftist platforms, to cops and feds, making us antagonistic to our own leadership. On the old sub, AMAB was a lighthearted joke, and this was more difficult for outside wreckers to do, as it was us vs the reddit admins. Now that were independant we have a new vulnerability that agitators can and will exploit, and we werent really prepared.

I think the 'admin election' stuff is kinda dumb too. You join this site as you would join any org, and participate as you would any org. If you come to signifigant disagreement with the org, its directions, and its actions, you leave and join one you believe to be more productive. I genuinely dont believe all too many people here are dissatisfied about the direction the leadership of this site is going. A loud minority of users can get pissed about some percieved slight and lean on the leftist's inherent distrust of authority to create a struggle against the leaders just for the sake of struggle, not because there is any real reason.

Before this struggle session I didnt really feel there was anything majorly wrong here, just the occasional eyeroll about certain users doing sectarian effortposting. When this stupid thing happened, my initial instinct was on the side of the dissenters, but since then I havent actually see the admins do anything bad. Banning transphobes is a good thing, banning hostile people (even if they are leftists) is a good thing.

Saying all this as an anarchist.

tbh I'm probably not the only one reading your china-bad screeds and thinking back to when I waged a similar crusade on the sub. glad you've stuck around

This is so cute because they wrote it for us to find. I didn't even know this other website existed until this post but they're obsessed with us. :party-blob:

it's the cumtown forum. cth and cumtown are related podcasts (the hosts are friends with each others) and the subs also had a lot of crossover at first, but more and more reactionaries joined cumtown untill it turned into what you see in the screenshot.

"edgy humor" subreddits with lots of far right users would get banned and a lot of them ended up going to /r/cumtown bc it is edgy humor. as time went on they outnumbered and drove off the chapo users. most of the reactionary posting comes from former users of the Opie and Anthony subreddit and the Million Dollar Extreme subreddit. obviously there are no chapos left on the forum lmao

yep! dunno much about it other than it existed, was full of reactionaries, it got banned and a lot of them went to the cumtown sub. i think the O&A people also have a forum but i'm not sure.

Okay if this is what we're up against, we're gonna survive just fine. We got some work to do still but if we lose to redditors like this then we deserve it

They aren't even capable of infiltration lol. They just create an account, post transphobic shit, then get smacked with the transphobe bat.

This is fucking hilariously pathetic, and the obvious bullshit in this has such a powerful "how do you do fellow leftists" aura, trying to fool people reading this, lmao

That is the most pitiful, loser shit I've ever read. Bit of an ego boost to just feel absolutely superior to someone though, Jesus fucking Christ. And I used to use reddit.

/r/cumtown (before it went private) was kind of similar to the chapo subreddit. But after it went private they basically chased out all the chapo posters and elevated the worst elements. That process accelerated as they moved to their own Reddit clone

i disagree tbh. i think the sub got better after it went private (there was a lot less genuinely sincere racist posting) than it had been in the prior months. the forum is impossible to use tho. it's just edgier TheDonald.

I have no idea if this is real or not, but either way this is why everyone needs to learn to recognize and ostracize narcissists before they gain enough popularity to be able to post 10,000 word screeds.

I refuse to believe someone would go through all this trouble just to do this. Not that it doesn't happen at all, but posting sooo much for months on end?

I refuse to believe Hannibal would cross the Alps just to invade Italy. Not that it's impossible, but dragging all those elephants along?

Wasn't there an example in a video game in space about a guy that spent the years or so infiltrating a rival company just to steal everything? Don't underestimate the lengths people will go to.

Yes but there were actual real stakes there, not just bothering an obscure website.

Yeah dude made off with tens of thousands of dollars in assets. EVE Online (had? still has? I dunno) a ingame currency exchange rate via "pilots license extensions" which can be purchased with real money and sold for ingame currency to other players. So with EVE you can actually calculate a dollar amount of what was taken, and it was pretty damn big.
