A tankie is an authoritarian or totalitarian "communist". They sound like nazis, they act like nazis. The term originated in the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, when tankies were fine with the USSR sending tanks to Hungary to crush the calls for socialism and democracy.
This is obviously false as "tankies" support China and often middle eastern and African leaders like Assad or Sankara.
