like i think as long as it is not chrome or chrome based it is fine, i use firefox and it is pretty realiable i ocassionally go and open 3184712741 tabs and complain about my computer being a bit slow but other than this big me problem it works pretty fine
like it does handle it pretty fine, it only gets easy to notice when i am doing something else like play rimworld for example and i forget that i have like 10 youtube videos i stoped watching in the middle, so they are buffering still on the background, and like some 50 tabs on multiple windows which is again my fault i should close stuff when i am doing something else
I have it set to close all tabs on quit, so I'll just randomly close the browser sometimes to stay fresh
i don't, i keep pretty clean tabs and i'd recommend it. i do add bookmarks but only occasionally. the trick is to admit to yourself how much time you have and then liberally sacrifice the ones you'll never get around to
that's not that many i don't think. my advice i guess is more for people who use open tabs to store dozens of things they meant to read or watch later
oh no! What's wrong with Chrome! It seems to be universally slammed on here!
Let me know why I should boycott!
Not so much that you need to boycott. Go ahead and use it if you want. It just runs slowly and sends a ton of data to Google for tracking purposes. If you're at all privacy-conscious, perhaps reconsider using chrome.
google in general is gonna get looked at sideways from a leftist perspective.
Like fakename_bill said they track everything you do when you're using their services. they store and sell/profit off that info. They also have ties to the CIA and have contracts with them as well as donate a lot of money to shit politicians and other political movements (this last one is par for the course for pretty much any corporation but it still sucks)
I use firefox with a lot of modifications from privacytools.io incl containers. I use some google services for work but they live in their own containers where all they have access to is my gmail and any general browsing I do is in it's own container away from any of my accounts..
I use Firefox.
Some might be put off by Brendan Eich, but he isn't there any more.
Jamie Zawinski (his blog is here) is better (he's a bit of a lib at times, but with good takes too; probably mostly good to be fair). He hasn't had anying to do with Mozilla longer than Eich.
it just eats up resources
Mozilla (and Google) make their browsers as light and fast as possible, and because this is capitalism, webdevs make heavier and heavier websites. It's not really Firefox eating resources, it's every single website out there.
wget and a some sort of html to pdf conversion process followed by printing out each page on a printer?
Someone else might suggest something lighter, but idk. I've always used Firefox
got a source on that? my friend is really pushing it right now, i want to make sure he knows what he's getting into
You can get a sense just from his controversies page. Also in the Brave section it mentions he's an antimasker lol.
It's Chromium-based iirc. Not sure if that carries similar privacy concerns as with Google Chrome, but I'd expect that it would have similar performance. I haven't used a Chromium browser in like a year tho
