People who say pink floyd is overrated are lame, sometimes shit is just good. They act like it's the same thing as being excited for capeshit or something.
It is an album full of leftist themes. You listening to it and taking it in at a young age probably helped you become a leftist. Those bullies are probably mindless chuds parroting someone else opinion still. Don't be ashamed of liking it I spent like a whole year listening to it contasntly when I was depressed as hell. It's very a powerful piece of art that speaks to people like us.
It conveys emotion so well and is so easy to listen to over and over.
And that's the only thing that matters. People can talk shit if they want, but if it gave you something emotionally then who cares?
Pink Floyd is a bit overplayed on boomer oriented radio but I would take them any damn day over Led Zeppelin.
Dark Side is good as hell. Pink Floyd is classic. Probably the best boomer band.
Considering Waters has called out Israel for their treatment of Palestine and talked positively about Maduro and venezuela yes they literally might be the good boomer band.
Pink Floyd is good full stop. Ok, maybe not anything post-Waters, but still.
Division Bell is better than anything after WYWH other than Comfortably Numb.
E: Uh and Animals wtf is wrong with me :'(
It's a classic album for a reason. Of course teenage stoners always go overboard when they first discover it but it's great art and greatly impacted me. Great Gig in the Sky is my favourite.
Great song.
Hot take: Sadly, it suffers from Roger Waters syndrome, where 99 % of the lyrics are beautiful and touching, but there is one line that is kind of silly. In this case, it's "in a relative way".
The only thing wrong with this post is that it only links to 1/9 of the greatest song ever.
I guess everything that popular is probably technically overrated. That doesn't mean it isn't outstanding.
DSOTM is god tier and I don’t care how much of a normie or boomer that makes me.
God-tier album, but I honestly don't care much for the rest of Pink Floyd's discography.
"Run, rabbit, run. Dig that hole, forget the sun. Then at last when the work is done, Don't sit down. Time to dig another one"
I remember how forbidden and mysterious the lyrics sounded to a young teenage self. There was this sense that some of those bands knew a secret that they were begging me to find out. I spent the better part of my teen years and half of my twenties seeking that mystery in various ways.
