The Intercept pulling a Warren and triangulating themselves into obscurity.
They never had the chuds, the libs hate them because of stories like the allegations against Biden, and now they’re going off with Vice-esque bullshit and losing what left they had
Enjoy the Warren stans I guess?
There’s still some good stuff there on immigration, campaign finance/corruption, and Ken Klippenstein, but what a turn they have taken on foreign policy and Biden lmao
wasn't the intercept started by some mega rich ghoul? The only reason leftists thought it was legit was because Greenwald was really popular at the time, he even appeared at one of the annaul ISO (former US trot group that collapsed) Marxist events, with huge applause. Now that Greenwald is gone, the Intercept seems more suspect. The Grayzone is where its at.
I'm not sure if it's still the case, but The Intercept was largely funded by Pierre Omidyar who was also a funder of the monstrous SKS, a microfinance organization with a body count. Hundreds Of Suicides In India Linked To Microfinance Organizations
Max can get a little into uncritical support territory but uncritical support for shitty anti-imperialists like Putin is still better than being a 'left' pub that also uncritically publishes CIA shit
I wish I knew more about Max. I just can't wrap my head around how he came to his ideological stance given his father's career and longstanding proximity to the Clintons.
his father’s career and longstanding proximity to the Clintons
Seems like sufficient explanation to me.
Speaking of Grayzone (and Pierre Omidyar) they have a couple articles about him including one about his role in the "regime change" efforts around the world.
The article is:
How tech oligarch Pierre Omidyar funds regime-change networks and partners with CIA cutouts
As for the Intercept I'm deeply suspicious of them and wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being some kind of operation. There had to be a reason that this tech billionaire with ties to intelligence agreed to fund an outlet that was reporting on leaked NSA documents. Depending on what day you ask me I lean towards it being some kind of limited hangout.
The Intercept's description of that E47 group in the article are probably true cause their existence are not a secret here at all in Vietnam, and they do call themselves something that could be translated to Cyberarmy. Whether the targets of this group deserve it or not is another issue though.
We Went Inside a Cyber Army
The Intercept accessed the invitation-only E47 group in order to corroborate and document the group’s activities, revealing a disarmingly casual environment, without any of the cloak-and-dagger material one might associate with an anti-dissident conspiracy. E47 feels far more like a group of friends than a cabal of censors: Jokes, memes, and off-topic debate were interspersed with attempts to get Vietnamese dissidents and foreign journalists expelled from the platform or to have links to their work erased. The social hijinks belie a smoothly operated machine for squashing dissent: An E47 member shares a target, often a politically dissident writer or publication, essentially nominating them for censorship. The call to arms is often accompanied with an image of the target with a red “X” drawn over it to drive home the point. From there, anyone interested in helping punish the offending journalist, activist, or ordinary citizen deemed a reactionary need only follow the provided link to the post in question and report it for violating of the Facebook’s ever-pliable Community Standards, whether or not the rules were broken.
Wow reading the article it's even worse then I thought. It's literally just a group of people who are canceling and reporting individuals who are probably fash, but apparently a group of posters is Vietnam's CYBER ARMY :cyber-lenin:
So does wanting to cancel fash make us a Cyber Army too? I've never felt so powerful :stalin-shining:
this sounds like one of those moments where shitty western journalists exoticize and over hype something that then turns out to be like... them looking at a meme page for unicorn riot or whatever.
Who is this article written for? It sure seems like spook stenography, but for what audience. Seems too in-depth for the intercepts typical core, but also tries to spin this as anti-police activists (ACAB, and Vietnam is headed the wrong direction from a communist point of view, but that’s a big stretch).
It’s like they want someone or some audience to read this
After thinking about this, I think the CIA might actually be the target audience actually, as well as foreign policy staff for congresspeople on intelligence committees.
Looking at the article and the author. Doesn’t seem like an expert in Vietnam or fluent. Who gave them access lmao. This is super sketchy, though hilariously makes this censorship cabal out to by like us
now western "leftists" will start saying how Vietnam is just as bad as China, needs to be liberated, and so on
damn, who's even going to read them? unemployed natsec fetishists in denial?
honestly just jealous that they don't get to live in one of the best countries, suck it up losers
