  • Israel is special. They get treated like they're absolute angels.

Just look at American media. Despite the Palestinian death toll, despite the lack of long-term goals, despite all the genocidal rhetoric, they're still defended and will ask Palestinians they bring on who just lost some of, or all of, their family ad nauseam if they condemn Hamas and believe Israel has a right to defend itself.

Idk if it's western guilt over the years long history of antisemitism or what, but they treat the state of Israel like they're holy, just, and pure. And all that does is set in this idea amongst Israelis that they are those things and as such have every right to do what they do. Not all Israelis, but more than there should be.

  • Nuclear power isn't bad. I used to be anti-nuclear energy because of the specter of Chernobyl, 3 mile island, and Fukushima. But learning more about it, there haven't been many actual problems with nuclear energy.

Chernobyl happened because of mismanagement and arrogance. 3 mile happened because of a malfunction. Fukushima happened because of mismanagement and failure to keep up safety standards in case of natural events.

These are all things that can be mitigated to one extent or another. it's much cleaner than other forms of energy, outputs way more than solar or wind, and with modern technology can be extremely safe. I think we should be adopting nuclear, at least as a stopgap until renewable tech reaches higher output in efficiency.

Kinda annoyed that these investments are going into foreign countries, when we are one of the major contributors to greenhouse gas. We should be building them here first to mitigate our own ghg contributions, then helping smaller countries build theirs.

I do still have concerns about waste removal and storage tho, but I'm sure we could figure that out if we actually wanted to. But I doubt we do, because "dA cOsTs" or some shit.

  • "Blinken said he planned to discuss concrete steps to minimise harm to civilians in Gaza..."

Yea well telling Israel they have your full support as they drop bombs on civilians, killing nearly 10k in 4 weeks, even hitting a fucking refugee camp twice to maybe take out a single Hamas dude... Not really selling your case.

"...adding that in recent days civilians had continued to bear the brunt of the conflict."

Recent days? It's been 4 weeks. They've been bearing the entire thing for 4 weeks.

    Fucking genocide enabler.

  • I'm apparently more of a leftist than you if you're willing to throw the working class under the bus purely because the wins we are getting are smaller than you'd like.. hell, they're smaller than I'd like too. But it's something, which is better than nothing or worse, outright reversals.

All your online posturing is doing absolutely nothing for the working class. Stop throwing around leftist ideals as if you actually give a damn. I wish we were in a better spot, but we aren't. We are here, this is the hand we've been dealt, we have to make the most of it. The alternative is fascism winning, and you and I being lined up and shot like dogs.

And bringing up the Russian invasion of Ukraine? Oh boy, let me guess. You'd rather we stop supporting Ukraine and if it just happens to fall to Russia, so be it? Please..
