I have a new theory on why rich people love space travel:

Fleeing Earth to colonize space doesn't make much sense, since even the most dire global warming predictions leave Earth way more livable than say Mars. If we can terraform or build a dome or whatever just do it here. The real reason is because of the twin paradox.

The twin paradox is a weird result of relativity. Basically, objects that are moving at near light-speed experience time slower than objects that aren't moving*. So if you have two twins and one of them makes a high-speed round trip to a star several light years away, when they get back they'll be younger than the other twin.

So anyways, rich people want to be able to send kids on high-speed rockets and when they return they'll be legally adults.

*yes I know this is simplified and what's important is the change of reference frames and blah blah don't @ me
