I hope this will help in pushing Wayland to the mainstream, Ubuntu frequently is the trendsetter for linux desktop as a whole. nVidia being lazy about developing Wayland support is one of the few things holding it back
i want to use wayland but no one's written an exwm equivalent for it yet :(
maybe i'll finally get good at programming when i'm done with school and do it myself
Does that mean it doesn't work at all with the proprietary driver?
No they actually did some work in recent drivers to make wayland work decent now, this will further incentivize optimization and support.
Don't know about the state of EGLStreams in major DEs, but wlroots maintainers don't seem to like it that much.
a typically curved structural member spanning an opening and serving as a support?
Long time coming for this. I remember listening to a deep dive talk into how messed up X11 is by a Wayland engineer in like 2012, but a lot of it was talking about what Wayland could improve as there wasn't any DEs yet that worked on Wayland.
