Not 100% sure but the image looks like a screengrab from a Star Trek episode or movie. They often show the Golden Gate bridge when depicting future Earth on the shows/movies and the people look like they're wearing Starfleet uniforms.

You're right tho this seems barely related to movies, my guess is OP misposted to the wrong comm.

They definitely overcomplicated it IMO. At first I was like oh cool I just have one config file where I configure my entire system and it's gonna be the same everywhere which is cool, oh but what's this there's nix-env suddenly, ok I can have different environments that's cool but can I just put everything in the global config anyway? Turns out not really, some things just don't work if you put them in the global config. Oh ok I guess but what's this there's this thing called Home Manager? How is it different than nix-env why do I need it? Also the error messages you get from the package manager are sometimes inane.

It's a cool idea but honestly I found it to be more trouble than it's worth.

    I use NixOS btw smuglord

(I don't like it tho like bro what do you mean I just can't run precompiled binaries without your bullshit package manager or whatever the fuck that is)

  • Interesting perspective, never really looked at it like that, I've always just interacted with the corporatized bullshit implementations of Agile.

It seems Agile really did have a kernel of worker self management in it but the original people behind it didn't have the right ideological framework to realize that this is what they're trying to achieve.

  • Are you implying that no socialist leaders ever wanted to be in power and all of them were just so nominated and begrudgingly accepted the position? I'm not really sure that's how it went down in the general case, sure sometimes it probably happened but I don't think we yet have a mechanism to keep people that want power away from power.

  • Strange, usually things just work there considering the limited hardware variety. Is it an older Mac? I'm typing this on an M2 macbook and it works perfectly.

Anyway try to dig into the config and check if you're using hardware rendering: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Firefox_Hardware_acceleration

If it turns out you're using software rendering try forcing hardware rendering on: https://jamcity.helpshift.com/hc/en/6-genies-and-gems/faq/5737-how-do-i-enable-hardware-acceleration-on-my-browser/
