Fedora, for the balance between rolling release and something like Ubuntu (too static).
i'm linux curious, i'll have to check out running it as my daily driver

Two tips. If you go with Fedora, check out RPMFusion. It's basically the extra repository for things that aren't officially distributed (due to Fedora's true commitment to FOSS). And if you use Gnome as your desktop environment, check out the extension Dash to Panel if you like the Windows task bar.
IMO Ubuntu is still one of the best beginner distros, because it does some things well out of the box that other distros inexcusably do worse at, e.g. font rendering. Also, it has such a large userbase that you can search "how do I <X> Ubuntu" and find up-to-date results.
