For me, after watching Matilda, I always wanted telekinesis. I think the movie really resonated with me for other, more substantial reasons, but I remember as a kid wishing that one of my high-stress situations would let me get those powers.

Edit - Fun fact: I had a sibling who stopped believing in God because they prayed for Wolverine claws as a kid, but didn't get them.

well then i WISH you were there because everyone just looked at me and said "...that's weird." No one ever fucking laughed. I guess I was ahead of my time

haha don't worry dude, i got the same treatment most of my life growing up trying to come up with unique things. My parents were not that supportive of my creativity most of the time which is honestly very fuckin sad to think about in retrospect. But i've always maintained being a unique or "weird" person (to an extent, not annoying) is a better trait to have in a friend than just a boring, uninspired person. I tell myself that at least lol

lol yeah you're right, I just remember being so angry as a kid that I was coming up with these great jokes and no one ever got them

yup i had a joke book too that was very cringe later in life to read but it kinda reminded me that at one point, i really just only wanted to make people laugh (including myself) which is a thing i can honestly say i love about myself. really did help me out when i was going through a massive depressive spell later in life. i still even feel insecure saying something like that about myself but tbh it's important to find those things you can love yourself for
