The election's results were considered a surprise and a complete rearrangement of the political system in Chile established since the end of Pinochet's dictatorship in 1990. The majority of elected members were independent candidates organized in new lists.

The List of the People was one of the surprises of the election, obtaining the third largest amount of votes and 25 seats, surpassing even the Constituent Unity, the main centre-left alliance.
