They're angry at "Tankies" because they've been told "You can get what you want, except there's a Tankie standing in your way" over and over again, to the point where they seriously believe it. Tankie doesn't mean anything to them, except "Obstructionist".
"Tankies are authoritarian, which is basically fascism, so we should round them up and re-educate them all" is certainly a take.
