I remember seeing a top comment on Reddit emphasize how China executes and imprisons billionaires. The liberal mind is so enthralled by the notion of billionaires being treated as Gods among men (simultaneously coexisting with the notion that our democracy is the best) that this, in the context of this comment, is regarded as a bad thing.
Obviously it makes much more sense to issue a perfunctory fine to a heavily insured private entity rather than actually punishing the people running such entities.
