I rediscovered a framed medal that my uncle gave me when I was 10. It was a big deal to me and to the rest of the family at the time bc my dad had passed that year, and he was stepping up for the male role model figure. But I can't get over the fact that he killed people in war and gave the symbol of recognition of this feat to a child. So weird.
