I'm reminded of one of the big early outbreaks occurring in a meat packing plant in South Dakota. Dozens of people taking ill at once. Community spread all the fuck over the place. Interstate transmission, because these folks are migrant laborers living in little pop-up towns with dense living and poor sanitation.
How did the governor respond? Governor Kristi Noem announced Thursday that a $5 million grant for small South Dakota meat processors would be made available through the state’s Coronavirus Relief Meat Processing Grant program.
:-p
Meanwhile, the state continues to lag the curve in all of the above.
This isn't something unique to South Dakota. Every corner of the country that isn't some urban industrial center has been starved for public services going on decades.
