That's just a weird way to report it. Why does their citizenship matter? I am racking my brain trying to figure out what that has to do with the condo collapsing.
I mean it’s a ToI article. When [x] Americans die or are unaccounted for in [foreign disaster] it’s not uncommon for the US press to mention that figure.
It isn't though. It's a CBS Miami article reporting information from the TOI about a local disaster. Which is bizarre, I'd assume they would have their own reporters on the ground to report total number of people missing.
It makes sense for the Israeli paper to do that. Less so for CBS to turn around and bring it back to the US.

Why post this? I agree it’s a weird framing for a US outlet but I’ve also seen these throwaway articles for Dutch or other nationalities when disasters happen.
Please don’t make light of people suffering in a (totally unrelated) situation, simply because they’re Israeli?
okay but they had israeli citizenship and were living in a beachside condo in Miami odds are they were wrapped up in something bad like training SilverCorp mercenaries and were not good people

I’m not here to speculate on who they were, and that’s kind of the issue with celebrating the suffering of people who haven’t been identified at all except for some national signifier. Any presumption right now is wishful thinking to justify some frankly shitty reactions.
What about it. Look up Israeli disaster relief efforts in the past, particularly building collapses. Kenya, Ghana, Mexico, etc. in the last 10 years.
If anything having them clearing rubble halfway across the world is a lot better than having them patrolling the West Bank.
