They also did some cool stuff with junked fighters. There ended up being a lot of changes made by the model team in California that day to day the team at Pinewood would have to change for the physical props. This was especially true of the Falcon. So the model team was kitbashing with model kits of WW2 planes, and the scrap metal the prop team was using for X-wings was harder and harder to source. Till it hit them that they are in England and they could literally buy at a junkyard the actual plane parts that the model team was using models of.
