They're going for "being against imperialist wars in the middle east is exactly like the America First movement wanting to stay out of WW2". The argument has been around since before the Iraq war

Since the 1800s! The British always used to talk up how backwards and autocratic the people they colonized were as a justification for invasion and occupation. "Saving brown women from brown men" has been the liberal justification for imperialism for centuries.

Even on the bad faith "you're anti war? Well what about the nazis?" level, there were pacifists who weren't fascists during WWII. Bertrand Russell comes to mind.

Edit: My mistake, Bertrand Russell was a lifelong pacifist, including during WWI, but supported war against Hitler. Which, IMO, makes the point even stronger. One can be against war even when it is an existential threat, and still not against war when the threat is a serious as fascism.

Unironically hear folks on /r/neoliberal whine about how every call to peace is just a repeat of the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact.

This country is absolutely begging for a WW3. We yearn for it down to our bones.

But fascism literally advocates war as an engine to fuel technological progress

Neoliberalism isn't fascism they are too different bad ideologies.

For an example of a difference a neoliberal would make birth control hard to access in poor areas. A fascist would make it mandatory for black people

To liberals fascism is primarily a question of aesthetics.

      a) the US is good

      b) all US enemies are fascist

      c) the only way to defeat fascists is through war

      d) the only country capable of waging those necessary anti-fascists wars is the US

That's right, and that's why I'm pro everyone-nuking-the-US-at-once. I love you all chapes, but it's the only way to kill fascism in its root, and y'all probably had it coming.

This is the new mutation of the Blue MAGA virus. Now that they have lost 'defeating drumpf' as their raison d'etre they will need a new one. With the horizontal gene transfer of the neocons into the democratic base you get whatever THIS is.

Liberals have been this way going back to the 90s. They're not opposed to war, just war for "bad" reasons...

TBH I somewhat sympathize with this cynical line of argumentation if only because these monsters don't give a fiddlers fuck that torture is fucking abhorrent and they'll just call you a cucked snowflake for thinking so.
I don't think for most libs that's their primary objection against torture, I just think they're naive enough to believe the chuds actually care about facts and logic.

There's something fundamentally wrong with a population that needs to be told "mutilating a defenseless human being because you're angry and scared is ineffective at providing you information necessary to massacre other people who make you angry and scared".

Then stack on top of it all the intelligencia that vomits up the "logic and reason" shit, while trying to justify their soullessness. Now these assholes absolutely dominate every corner of our mass media such that even latter-day hippies are sold on endless war. This country is so hopelessly corrupt.
