I don't understand this thread. Is this any different from a religious person praying for the wellbeing of Afghans? If you go into islam/christianity subs you can find similar posts, are we supposed to mock them too?

They're not hurting anyone (except the Taliban maybe), there's no need to tip the fedoras at them

i'll be the bad guy here -- yeah, dudes larping as "witches" is lame, and is qualitatively different from the lived in, communal traditions of the great religions.

and it's super fucking lame to, ya know, even assuming you have nonmaterial power of the material world (you don't), that you would use this in a kulturkampf against the "bad muslims" for having the wrong kind of traditions or whatever.

like this community is presumably against western chauvinism, but it should make exceptions when the enforcement of western practice is made by dudes sending hexes? sorry no -- this is mega-cringe.

So religions are illegitimate until they've been around long enough, at which point they retroactively become legitimate?

Honestly I do this more like a continuation of the whole "Witches hexed the moon!" thing and not to just mock them too much. The pagan community are our allies too overall, just that I still think the concept of "We're waging a magic battle against the Taliban" as pretty humorous.

That's why I put it in memes and not dunk tank I don't want to be too harsh to them for the most part it's just powerless people trying to find some control in the world.

I wasn't even really expecting the replies to be as harsh as some of these are.

i think online leftists are very sensible to people not doing praxis, i mean it's the usual and easiest dunk for online lefties so it's a sensible spot
