Root causes are either investors are scared that credit processing companies are pulling the plug in the same way that happened with pornhub, which itself was apparently a cause championed by an anti-porn evangelical conservative group which nefariously used more sensible causes like stopping sex trafficking or the lax age verification, or the investors themselves having a dumb rule not to invest in porn.
