There are a lot of people who were part of the Bernie campaign, got distraught when we lost, and then descended into some weird entirely online nihilist fantasy politics that they’ve confused with being actually radicalized. That’s the only way you get to this debate in the first place.
Right, they think they're becoming more committed socialists as their views get weirder and more extreme or sectarian when it's actually a result of resigning themselves away from any real political project so they can just be idealists. To be fair there isn't any national leftist project in the US, so they don't have a highly visible IRL example to observe what organizing and mass politics entails.
