It's also why NATO exists, so the US can do stuff when anyone else on the security council wants to stop them.

I can't fathom being the US, claiming to be a democracy, then continuing to have a brutal embargo on Cuba after every other nation (minus Occupied Palestine) in the UN votes to condemn it
