Is this actually good or is it just radlibs shooting their shot? Is the department of public safety the new committee of public safety?

having the question on the ballot is better than not. I think there's a good chance the measure fails, but the momentum isn't going away. people here aren't going to suddenly start liking the police again. we've seen the metal skull under the prosthetic face.

For real. I don't know exactly how it was covered elsewhere, but I think people outside the Twin Cities underestimate the sheer unprovoked brutality we experienced, especially in that first week of uprisings. There are still bootlickers around, especially in the wealthier areas, but most people I knew who had felt neutral-to-positive about cops before the uprisings feel decidedly more negative about them now

I was passing through a few months after stuff mostly died down and saw the cops slashing the tires of a guy they had pulled over and spitting on the driver through the window. I also saw a cop tearing up the grass and throwing dirt onto passing cars driving up a steep median trying to get to a hiding spot for a speed trap.

I didn't even stop, I was driving on the highway through the place.

it's an improvement, but still liberal reform. it's far from a guarantee that it even gets the required vote.
