Literally state controlled = not state controlled

It's a magazine that says you should listen to Marx's ideas. Doesn't that make it a Marxist publication by the definition you're using?

You can't assert that the US has a free press and that Jacobin and Teen Vogue are Marxist and then act like I'm stupid for pushing back on that lmao

"Actually the US has freedom of speech" is such baby-brained bullshit. The US systematically murdered and imprisoned the entire black nationalist movement. Steven Donziger was just sentenced to six months (after two years of house arrest) for exposing Chevron. You can't become a citizen if you're a Communist. There are specific restrictions on filming agriculture because of how horrific the conditions are.

There are a million examples of the US infringing on its mythical "freedom of speech" if you're capable of looking past "well actually the first amendment says..."

The US systematically murdered and imprisoned the entire black nationalist movement.

They weren't murdered and imprisoned for what they were saying, but what they were doing.

Their written works remain in circulation, even venerated by the state.

Steven Donziger was just sentenced to six months (after two years of house arrest) for exposing Chevron.

He wasn't sentenced for speaking out. He was sentenced for pressing a judgement against Chevron's property with intent to take it.

                    You can’t become a citizen if you’re a Communist.

You can't become a citizen pretty much full stop. The process is expensive, lengthy, and hyper-exclusionary.

There are specific restrictions on filming agriculture because of how horrific the conditions are.

The closest to the mark, although - again - the real crime is threatening profitable consumption. The reality of factory farming isn't a secret.

There are a million examples of the US infringing on its mythical “freedom of speech”

The US failing to faithfully implement the policy does not mean the policy doesn't exist.
