Exactly. America is too obviously factionalized to plausibly say there's one secret group controlling everything. Even the deep state seems to have wildly divergent priorities and views among its various constituents. It's more that there are various groups of bourgeois and bourgeois-aligned stakeholders who compete to exert influence over the government, while making sure that the masses have minimal say on the most important issues.
