I hate double dippers too but I'm not going to become a cop over candy lol. This nerd is a boot too so that figures
Every year people do this song and dance. Yeah the candy thieves are assholes but that's life, there's assholes everywhere, you leave your candy out like that this is what youre gonna get.
These are the same people that say communism doesnt work because of human nature. Well if human nature is like this then don't make it so easy for people to exploit things.
the trick is to put out an empty bowl so it looks like someone stole it all
"Please take one"
And all that's left is a single partially opened fun sized Almond Joy
the PMC DSA Karens stole the proletariat's candy. this is why you hand out crickets instead
Actually if I rolled up to someone's house and they dropped some fried onions into my hands I would be very happy. I really want onions now
They where raw, i wanted to give people the option to prepare them any way they like, or just nibble away on these bad boys right on the spot.
They can make caramelized onions!
By which I mean, they can dip them in caramel and eat them like caramel apples
:red-brownwald: this is cancel culture which is ruining the free speech of those trick or treaters
I dunno, I feel like that's the risk you take if you do the honor system schtick.
Yeah, I'm a Halloween candy victim-blamer.
yeah earnestly expecting children to not steal unguarded candy in front of them is ridiculous. It's their fundamental nature and you knew that going in
I’m with you on this.
Although maybe now that doorbell cameras are so prevalent, people might stop
stealingtaking an unfair amount. It seems like every year there’s a local viral story of someone caughtstealingwhich leads to them being harassed.EDIT: Removed the word stealing, that wording feels too extreme.
I don’t know, I feel like I need to side with the guy here. I know it’s Halloween and all, but from what I can tell it’s not the kids taking an unfair amount, but the parent telling the kids to and helping them take an unfair amount. It’s just the same American brainworms that we constantly dunk on in this site, that inability to consider anyone else but oneself, and not only that but it’s the parent teaching their children those American brainworms. To me it doesn’t matter if it’s Halloween cause that same attitude is present at all other times and it’s an anti-social attitude
not only that but it’s the parent teaching their children those American brainworms
That really does just explode my brain. I went ToTing with a couple of friends and their kids, and they got increasingly depressed as they watched the kids load up simply because they didn't want kids eating that much junk food.
Imagine going to a single house and yanking all the sweets when there are literally dozens of houses on the block ready to give you more than you could ever want.
You should have put your asses in some lounge chairs and booze while kids parade in front of you and you toss them candy. I would have hate to do it for too long, but that's what you get for inventing this stupid tradition.
It's fun lol, I'm bummed because my neighborhoods road has no fucking sidewalks and the cars drive down it like lunatics so kids can't trick or treat on it.
Actual neighborhood, just fuck awful planning.
I enjoy playing spooky music and giving kids treats, it's really nice.
I was hoping we'd get egged or something by teens, but not even that 😞
One of our neighbors was handing out jello shots to the parents. They are this year's Halloween MVPs in my book.
This is giving me mixed feelings. On the one hand I don't like the public shaming and the policing of a holiday tradition, on the other hand I don't get why not more people are outraged at the Karen literally teaching her kids to be hoarders when they think they can get away with it. A responsible parent instilling good values in their children would teach them to not take more than one so that others can enjoy it as well, instead she's literally instilling a "get away with everything you can grab and fuck others" capitalist mentality in her kids.
Children on Halloween should be following the rules!!!
On this, the evening where traditionally pranks and being free to play practical jokes is not only forgiven, but encouraged, the kids can misbehave in the designated misbehaving areas and ways.
Taking unattended candy is not pranking in the right way
I mean, it's also not the kids making the decision to take all the candy, but we shouldnt be policing Halloween
We should be fighting the F U, got mine attitude on display here. I don't like :thumb-cop: 's tone in this, but he is right this parent teaching her kids to abuse holidays and people's trust is not cool.
