    Also Taiwan hasn't claimed ownership over the mainland since the late 80s when the KMT's party was voted out.

      And even more importantly, the CPC threatens to invade Taiwan if they rescind KMT claims aka "declare independence". I personally don't think they will, it's just a giant LARP.
      Evidence: 1. The CPC has been saying it for decades
      2. Property values have not fallen in Taiwan. If Taiwan is truly to become a battleground, prices would plummet.
      3. Taiwanese businesspeople aren't fleeing the country 4. Tsai has been trolling the CPC, continually "crossing the line". She has said that Taiwan is already independent and she's had US marines visit.

      For the record I don't like the DPP joining the US in their fake news propaganda against China but I think it was demanded by US leadership for defacto protection against CPC invasion. The US has a tendancy to demand things from other countries.
