I think American AKs will always be kind of sus. If you want a good American intermediate caliber rifle you get an AR.
AK guys are AK guys because they like the history and internationality of the gun. All things equal, I think I'd still prefer one made in Serbia or Romania than America.

Like $800-$1200 depending on the make.
Right now Palmetto State Armory has one on sale for $630, but I can't vouch for its quality.
I've heard PSA AK's are generally not good, but for that was when they were like 800+. Might be worth 630, but I've never used one.

Round about a grand plus, depending on what you're buying.
Not much point in paying for a quality AK. Get a piece of junk, all it does is spray bullets up to a hundred yards.
A quality AK is pretty accurate.
It doesn't need to be. Pray and spray.
