I knew someone whose dad told him to do this if there was a break in: quietly get a hold of the gun and shout, telling them you have a tennis racket. When they come upstairs, assuming you can't defend yourself, you're within your rights to shoot to kill.

It's never been about self defense for these folks. It's just finding ways to justify murder. I think people are entitled to self defense of course, but some people just want to kill.
