Against all odds, the Hexbear Party is the vanguard of a successful revolution, and the users of this site are the Peoples' Commissars of the new government. What would that look like?

I was thinking about the Bolsheviks and how they were basically a bunch of weird nerds (especially Trotsky) who were mostly figuring things out as they went, and I thought that we're not much different.

Frankly any random collection of 200 people would be better than the current lead of most bourgeois governments. We’d fuck up and figure it out. Probably get couped pretty quick, just statistically speaking. Straight up, if this somehow happened right this instant by magic we’d quickly fail and if it happened “naturally”, there were de-facto be way better social infrastructure in place to give us a better chance

This is 100% true and I think about it a lot. Western political institutions are basically designed to make sure that the worst possible people for the job end up in government

One of my favourite reformy but intense ideas is to have a proportional system (assign seats by party percentage of the vote), but allot some seats in congress/parliament by sortition according to the number of people who didn't vote.

Low turnout election? Too bad you have a senate of random fucks now.

          Chaotic good

But tbh treating public office like jury duty isn’t a bad idea

          a senate of random fucks

This would be more democratic than the senate as it currently exists
