...annnnd I had fun! I didn't go in expecting to be blown away, and within the first like 15 minutes I realized the whole movie was just taking the piss out on itself, and irl. It's so damn meta, there's a ton to unpack which I think might make it fun to rewatch, especially with friends. Honestly it feels like it's just 2+ hours of Lana Wachowski memeing on everyone and everything--I hope she had a good time, because so did I.
Of course she also pissed a bunch of redditors off. I went back and checked the review and spoiler threads on the matrix and movies subreddit and basically all the comments are shitting on the movie for not living up to their expectations of it being a super intense action movie or whatever, or being too woke, or even the fucking choice of end credits song. Like, I guess people went in thinking it would be a super duper serious continuation of the matrix universe, but hey :reddit-logo: gonna :reddit-logo: I guess? Stay mad.
Anyways, if you wanna stay positive, you can at least see the thread on the matrix subreddit for people who had a positive opinion of the movie.
the movie rocked and the video game thing they did was the perfect cherry on top
It felt like the Wachowskis were just winking at the camera the whole time. Very meta. I've run into a problem though that I only see Keanu as Keanu. It's easier to ignore in the Wick films because of all the action, but with all the thinking and conversations going on in Resurrections, Neo didn't really exist for me as a character.
I thought it was fun. Keanu was super wooden but that made it funnier and more enjoyable. I thought the Analyst was kinda lame though.
What's great is that Keanu has improved as an actor since the old movies
