The platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), sometimes referred to as the duck-billed platypus, is a semiaquatic, egg-laying mammal endemic to eastern Australia, including Tasmania. The platypus is the sole living representative or monotypic taxon of its family (Ornithorhynchidae) and genus (Ornithorhynchus), though a number of related species appear in the fossil record.

Together with the four species of echidna, it is one of the five extant species of monotremes. It is one of the few mammals that lay eggs instead of giving birth to live young. Like other monotremes, it senses prey through electrolocation. It is one of the few species of venomous mammals, as the male platypus has a spur on the hind foot that delivers a venom, capable of causing severe pain to humans. The unusual appearance of this egg-laying, duck-billed, beaver-tailed, otter-footed mammal baffled European naturalists when they first encountered it, and the first scientists to examine a preserved platypus body (in 1799) judged it a fake, made of several animals sewn together.

Nature is a comrade, and she remains undefeated all-time. Animals rock.

i hate composing with electronic drums so much they're so static ughhhhhh. the snares feel lifeless half the time and so do the cymbals/hats. the only redeeming qualities imo are some of the kicks and the claps.

might be an 'i don't know how to work them' moment or might be a personal preference for the more genuine sound of acoustic drum kits, even when i'm composing with synths. ride or die acoustic drums even when everything else is electric idk

i'm sure they have their uses if your style is more edm oriented where that works and it helps center the groove much more but i'm a very acoustic gal when it comes to percussion, the sterile sound of the electronic drum kits just dont do it for me when i a lot of times like the drums front and center and vibrant (e.g., offered this up for a project im working on and was suggested by someone to change it to electronic drums and it just felt lifeless when i swapped it), even in more synthy pieces of mine

of course, i'm talking software/vsts. hardware is a different story possibly

DAWs and VSTs. More specifically, I'm using Addictive Drums and sometimes Logic stock for the acoustic drums, and AD, Logic, and Reason Rack for the electronic when I have to.

Yea, I never have a problem finding kicks, hats, claps, whatever, but snares....most just sound like shit or are the trap style minimalist clicks. If you can find sample packs for free you might find something you like. Do you know any drummers? Could sample some drums and beats to loop?

i've downloaded a decent soundfont/sample pack repetoire, but i tend to not use the drums as most sound kinda midi. might look into the specific samples tho. i don't tend to sample specific songs/recordings a lot, generally, but if i have to to sound good i might.

yeah electronic snares esp software electronic snares half the time sound so sterile/midi/just awful that i just want to mix them into the background which DEFEATS THE POINT OF A FUCKING SNARE :matt-jokerfied:

Yeah, I've sampled a few snares from some old 70s and 80s songs cause they sound real lol. Electronic snares are weak sauce and get lost in the mix. I shouldn't have to use camel crusher or something similar just to get it to cut through the mix

under no circumstances when making an electronic drum kit should ones clap hit heavier and harder then their snare but they just keep fucking doing it. claps are the mixup option in my experience, but half the time using electronic i substitute them in for the goddamn snare and it sounds more coherent. why :joker-troll:
