Basically, I'm pretty wary of the adverse effects of drugs and becoming dependent on them. I've never done any, including drinking etc. But I'm curious about edibles, since it seems like there's barely any downsides, besides the risk of the edible itself being too potent(?).

Vaping would negatively affect your lungs though, right? That's my worry about the smoking/vaping route

Yes, to an extent, primarily due to the temperature of what you're inhaling and not so much the contents of the vapor. With a vape you can generally control the temperature to control what compounds will be in the vapor you're inhaling (THC has a lower vapor point than CBD, other cannabinoids and terpenes will come in at other temps) and you'll pretty much just be getting the stuff that gets you high (compared to smoking, where you're also getting the smoke from the burnt plant matter).

Risk-wise, I'd put it somewhere between "stir frying on a gas stove" and "sitting at a campfire" in terms of how bad it is for your lungs.

Vaping isn't good for your lungs, but the risks are pretty minimal if you're just having a toot every now & then. And it's much, much easier to dose a vape pen correctly than an edible, esp of it's your first time trying.

yeah my lungs arent the best after covid so i avoid it altogether. its possible to do edible and not fuck it up but i recommend getting some oil and taking a very small dose of it under the tongue if you can handle the taste

Just a word of caution that if you decide to vaporize dry flower, to purchase a vaporizer that is from a reputable brand. Off brand vapes can have the heating element in suspect places.

The other kind of vaping, the oil pen cartridge kind, is different from the flower vaporizers.
