It IS far worse than you think. Big tech like Google and Facebook are way too powerful with all of their data harvesting shit. Google and Apple control almost all smartphones on the planet along with a huge chunk of the internet. They monitor you 24/7 and the data goes straight to the US government. This is the largest spying operation in history and people are not fucking aware of it. China has been 100% right to ban these American companies from their lands.
It made me realize that the fact China has its own banking/payment systems/social media etc. which are often cited as oppression and censorship is really an efficient line of defense against at least some kinds of sanctions.
Absolutely, what is happening to Russia right now is probably something the planners have considered all the way since they first opened the door for western capital.
