literally have no clue why it should take me like a week and reinstalling drivers twice to fix screen tearing when shit was working fine before i did some updates. like i tried upgrading to the 510 driver to see if it would fix anything, but it just made shit worse. downgraded back to 470, re-enabled full composition pipeline and now everything is magically fixed lmfao

my first recent foray into linux almost made me give up because i was constantly crashing on bootup

turns out the specific version of the nvidia drivers was causing hard crashes cos i was using a displayport cable to my monitor, and somehow it resolved when i switched to an hdmi cable. i have no idea how you can fuck up drivers so bad that that can possibly be a thing but here we are

shortly afterwards my graphics card blew up when i loaded some game, im not saying the nvidia drivers blew it up, but im also not not saying it

anyway bad time to have to buy a new card but the silver lining is that the amd drivers are much better

Yeah seriously it was a total pain to update Manjaro because there'd be some weird conflicts with Nvidia packages. The only time I've ever needed to mess with the AMD driver was when I needed a patched version for a game I wanted to play.

I probably won't ever use an Nvidia graphics card for that reason alone lmao
