It was a full on coup attempt in which people stormed the fucking capitol and threatened to lynch politicians.
That the people behind these insane movements are getting away with it is not proof it wasn't a coup attempt, it's proof of the same shit that the nazis getting a slap on the wrist for the beer hall putsch and their elite supporters getting off scott free was.
people kinda just sauntered in as the cops stepped aside.. climbing the walls and shit was unnecessary and more for dramatic effect than anything else.. the vast majority of them just moseyed around the capitol and left when they were told to leave... a minority of them got uppity and a little bit pushy.. but even they fucked right off once a gun was fired
