This has been a goal for two years, and we have finally achieved it today.
Even better, you can add up to 500 pages (including library works or essays) to a collection, and download it all as one PDF 'book'.
To get started, go on the homepage (https://en.prolewiki.org) and open the megamenu, then click on "Create book" and follow the instructions.
We're still ironing out some hiccups, but I can't tell you how happy I am that this works! Guess who's celebrating tonight 😎
all of it, might be interesting to make an offline project about it like the offline archwiki on the terminal.
Cause if you wanted to make some collections centered on topics and host them somewhere so other people could download them... 👀
but how can the CIA take down all of ProleWiki if there are PDF's floating around on people's hard drives
Nice, gonna save a few on my tablet. It would also be great if we could download epub versions of the books.
Epub is possible but (keep it a secret) I'm too lazy to enable it
edit: okay it's enabled.
Oh thanks, that was fast. I can't imagine how productive you are when you aren't lazy. 😁
I haven't checked how it renders on my e-ink reader yet, but the download is working great.
Nice, I got shit rural internet sometimes I'm forced offline for 18hrs at a time. Something on Kiwix like wikipedia or stackoverflow has would also be something to look at maybe.
is there a way to download the entirety of prolewiki as a folder of files, with a strong preference for non-PDF files?
Just out of curiosity... (At the moment)
How much storage would downloading all of it take?
Might be useful to have a few torrents of the whole collection available incase the feds ever come knocking.
Not that much, between 20-40 gigs. However that would be for the source files; as a PDF, the website might take twice or three times that amount because it's an inefficient format. We'd have to run a script probably to make the PDFs automatically and there would be like 10 volumes to it (500 articles per 'book' for ~4000 articles)
