This argument is basically the same as the "we should adopt fash aesthetics to look cooler" or "we should become patsocs to appeal to boomers" arguments. It's based on a misunderstanding of where you're supposed to be building your pockets of resistence. We're supposed to elevate the weak, which means some among us will be weak. But the stronger ones or those who're similarly weak but have shared experiences should help them become strong, not tell them to shut up.
This is a bad post. :downbear:
TL;DR: Sickos alone weak. Sickos together strong. :sicko-crowd:
I think pretty much the opposite. We're going to win people over by talking honestly and openly about the problems regular people face and I inherently distrust anyone who calls themself a communist but isn't willing to be seen as part of the poor unwashed masses or whatever.
Can we stop telling everyone how we have “crippling social anxiety” as an excuse for things? Can we stop acting so depressed?
No, and also no, because I'm not "acting" depressed; I am depressed, and it's only until extremely recently that I've stopped feeling suicidal. I'm not gonna go around bragging about how depressed/anxious I am becaue it's "cool" or I'm proud of it, it's a statement of fact. You wouldn't tell a person missing both legs to go for a quick jog, so I don't quite understand how someone who is literally explaining their difficulties wrt organizing, etc doesn't get the same benefit of the doubt.
Can you please stop making up some imaginary depressive to get mad at? You don't get to decide for other people, end of.
Maybe you should take a moment to interrogate that lack of empathy you made your first post about.
