You don't owe anyone a debate, especially a fascist.

In fact, i think debating a fascist is losing because you waste energy on a conversation that is going nowhere, which is the end goal.

That's why making fun of fash is an art form, and it can always be refined.

(Although I will say that if you're on a public forum like Reddit, providing sources for your dunks can potentially help out curious lurkers. It's not good to waste time debating outright fash, of course, but it's a consideration when talking to reactionaries)

yeah "debates" and arguments, especially online, are for the audience not the person you're talking to. Bill Nye was never going to convince Ken Ham of anything but he did give a fuckload of people some remedial biology education.

Don't argue with people that John Brown would've shot.

the Sartre quote always comes to mind

Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.
