"A theory espoused by scientists from Israel" is minimizing reality and it's bullshit propaganda. It isn't just Israeli scientists who believe in the theory of long covid liver. Specialists all over the global believe in that theory too.

The CDC might be right and it might not be covid-related. But, man, are they ever making efforts to say over and over it's probably not covid-related. Last month they said dogs might be the cause: CDC: Mystery Hepatitis Disease Killing Children Might Be Linked To Dogs.
That might happen.
In about a couple weeks I can imagine the CDC director goes on MSNBC: "A potential vector of acute hepatitis in children is unions. As in labor unions. This is a highly unusual development and I will explain...."
There's instant blowback which greatly surprises the director. And she's angered and hurt by strangers recognizing her in public and walking up to her and yell "Fuck you - scab CDC doc!" in her face. Right in her face! She's the CDC director - how dare they! Do they even listen! She said "potential vector"!
In light of this and the hostile memes and the #RedactHer hashtag (which everybody knows is directed at her) - the CDC quickly forgets all about labor unions and the replaces it with "Could it be cats?" That's also instantly pilloried, ridiculed and meme'd but she doesn't care - she's not the target. She vanishes for a few weeks and the deputy direct takes her place.
When the deputy appears on tv every talking head goes out their way to sends their very best to the director in this "trying time" and "How and why can the American people hate doctors. Doctors!..." It's particularly unctuous on MSNBC.
Meanwhile the CDC director is plotting her revenge.
