My brother just recommended this in the family chat and after two seconds googling, it set off a few red flags. CW: likely transphobia

Anyone watch it yet? Thoughts?

It follows a pattern of the sort of stuff my brother is into, it seems. Right-wing pipeline stuff, maybe.

I scrubbed through it without really watching it, just so I had an idea of what it is and could respond if I needed. It's disingenuous nonsense whose thesis is that trans people are perpetrating some violation of basic humanity, whereas most people have an instinctive understanding of what gender means. The movie uses black people as props too, where the filmmakers went to Africa to get their opinion of trans people using incredibly leading questions. Tightly edited propaganda.

It's a movie long version of the stupid "basic biology" argument and you're better off not bothering. The answer given by the movie is that since the question "what is a woman?" has an easy answer in terms of anatomy, or a more complex nuanced answer when considering everything else, the simplest answer is more correct by virtue of being simpler. It's not even pipeline stuff, this movie was financed by the Daily Wire. It's just outright fascist.

Bummer, in that my brother recommended it. Pondering responding with Trans Liberation, but open to suggestions.

It's not pipeline stuff. It's hate, and dipshit dumb hate to boot.

The guy who made it is a Daily Wire(?) right wing culture warrior asshole. Previous highlights of his career was yelling at a school board meeting about mask mandates for public school students (his kids are homeschooled) and being a big voice of the Critical Race Theory panic which included him saying on Twitter that all public school classrooms should have cameras livestreaming what was going on in them 24/7 so parents can watch and make sure that no dang CRT is being taught to their children (again, his kids are homeschooled) which he got dunked on by a ton of people for

Taibi said it deserved to be answered in good faith, NJR wrote a verbose response, taking several pages to say that "woman" has different definitions based on context. It sounds like it's just "owning the libs" type talking points with project Veritas-style cuts to make "gender studies" people look stupid and/ or unhinged.
